LOS ANGELES -- Is history repeating itself at this year's Los Angeles Auto Show?
Showing their dominance in the market, crossover vehicles are taking center stage this year at the show's press preview, which opens Wednesday. Last year, the lineup at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show was all about luxury crossover SUVs.
This year will see more mainstream models, new small crossovers from Mazda, Honda and Fiat. And in what may be one of the bigger showings, Ford is renovating its Explorer, a full-size crossover.

Last year, the trend was toward smaller luxury crossovers. Ford's Lincoln division showed the MKC, which went on sale this year. And Mercedes-Benz and Infiniti both showed concepts of their own small crossovers. Porsche showed the small Macan, which also went on ther market this year.
One thing is clear: consumer can't get enough of the small, practical vehicles.
