Auto dealers convention to celebrate its 100th anniversary - Helena Independent Record

Montana's auto dealers will hold their biggest event of the year starting Sunday when their 100th annual convention comes to Helena.

The Montana Automobile Dealers Association is made up of 119 members representing nearly all new car and truck dealers in the state. The association is celebrating a century of promoting cooperation, efficiency, ethics and business opportunities while also highlighting traffic safety. Montana auto dealers began meeting informally in 1914, but it was not until 1939 that the association formally convened, said Dan Dallas, field services director for the association.

The convention kicks off Sunday at the Great Northern Best Western and lasts through Tuesday. Special guests included Rep. Steve Daines, U.S. House candidate Ryan Zinke and Attorney General Tim Fox.

The events include a trade show geared toward members and are not open to the public, Dallas said.

The auto business is climbing in the state, he said, and the association wants to add more membership from the RV and motorsport sectors as one of its primary goals.
