Forget the auto-tech fantasies they're peddling at CES. At the Silicon Valley International Auto Show, which started yesterday, they're featuring new 2015 models that are in showrooms now.
The show, which will run through the weekend at San Jose's McEnery Convention Center does, of course, tantalize with some luxury brands and high-end models. The DuPont Registry showed off custom cars with six-figure price tags and Club Sportiva President Sia Bani pitched rentals of those exotics.

People at the Silicon Valley show yesterday sat in, test drove and learned about the new auto-tech features hitting the roads.
Automotive tech is one facet of the Internet of Things, which promises to connect cars, home appliances and mobile devices to the Internet. At the auto show, new technologies in safety and entertainment were on display. In Silicon Valley, those features are coming on the market as autonomous vehicles already roam the streets.
"The technology is there for us to build autonomous vehicles," said Shad Balch, GM's manager of future product policy and communications. "The only thing that still needs to happen is for [different companies] to create a protocol that allows all the cars on the road to communicate."
Balch said Cadillac will unveil its self-driving car in 2017, but unless the protocol is created before then, it will only be safe to drive around other Cadillacs.
Many of these advancements were created in GM's Technology Center in Palo Alto, according to Balch. Audi, Volkswagen and Mercedes Benz have also set up tech hubs here.
